A suspect is caught in the act during an early morning burglary. An officer patrolling the Russel Cave area quickly responded to STK Fashions in the Russel Cave Shopping Center after police say 19-year-old Emerald Brown smashed in the front door.

Surveillance tape shows Brown walking up to the front door of the business, looking both ways and then smashing the front door with a hammer. Store owners believe she started to run after their alarm went off.

Brown got away empty-handed. Police caught her immediately and she faces a number of charges including burglary and felony charges for receiving stolen property.

Store owner Sammy Dubbous says she is a regular customer who was likely after cigarettes and cash.

Just an hour before Brown smashed in the door, police say an alarm went off in the back of one of the stores in the same shopping center.
