WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is announcing help
today for small businesses as he and top aides seek to boost
The president's planning to use cash from his stimulus package
to cut fees and increase government guarantees for loans made by
the Small Business Administration. The goal is to get the sand out
of America's small-business engine of job creation. Aides say the
pricetag is $730 million.
But increasingly, Obama and top aides are highlighting reason
for long-term economic optimism.
Just last fall, when John McCain called those fundamentals
sound, Obama mocked him as out of touch.

coming from the stimulus plan.
