High School Students Dealing With Classmate's Death

Grief counselors were on hand for a second day on Tuesday at Franklin County High School after a student died in a crash.

A spokesperson for the school system says 18-year old Jennifer Penn passed away late Monday afternoon at UK Hospital. She was critically injured Saturday night when she lost control of her car and hit a guardrail.

The senior was headed home from performing in the school musical, The Wizard of Oz.

Sunday afternoon, the cast held another performance of the musical without her, but says she hasn't been forgotten.

Franklin County High School had up to 12 grief counselors on hand on Monday but were supposed to be at the school on Tuesday as well.

Funeral arrangements are pending at Clark Funeral Home in Frankfort.
