Louisville Officer Shoots Man Who Pulled Gun

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Police in Louisville are investigating the shooting of a man who allegedly pulled a gun on a city police officer.

The man was taken to a hospital, but police did not release his name or the extent of his wounds after the incident Monday night.

The officer's name was not immediately released and a police official said he was placed on routine administrative leave.

Louisville Metro Police Chief Robert White told The Courier-Journal the officer was sitting in a marked car when a woman banged on the cruiser's hood and warned a man had a gun.

The policeman got out of the car and White said a man who was nearby produced a gun. The officer fired several shots at him.
