Imagine paying for your gas or groceries and being told your money is not real!
It's happening to people in one Kentucky town.
Police are investigating a rash of counterfeit money in Montgomery County. Now, federal authorities are getting involved.
Police there say there have been several reports of phony money found throughout the county; most of have been 50 dollar bills that were passed through retailers.
One victim, Joe Slone, says he received a fake $50 bill in change. He says it was especially unfortunate because he gave that money to his 12-year-old granddaughter as a gift for making straight A's.
Soon, the case will be turned over to the Secret Service.
