A woman and one of her friends were gunned down after her child's birthday party. That child's father is now charged with the crime.
The shooting happened at around midnight on Tuesday at a home on King George Drive, near Colony Boulevard in Georgetown.
Police say 26-year-old Jason Wilson has three small children and was celebrating a birthday at the home of his former girlfriend, 25-year-old Stephanie Buchanan.
Police say later on in the day, Wilson returned to the home where Buchanan was still partying with some friends, including a new love interest.
Wilson reportedly called his mother, telling her he was going to "take care of the situation. Police say Wilson kicked in the front door and confronted the people inside.
Police say Buchanan's new boyfriend and another man, 18-year-old Darryl Brown began fighting with Wilson.
Police say Wilson then left the home and got a gun from his truck, returning minutes later.
Police say Wilson began firing wildly inside the home, eventually hitting Brown in the face at close range. After a scuffle for the gun, another bullet hit Wilson's ex-girlfriend in the hip. Police say, in all, Wilson fired seven shots inside the home, chasing people as they tried to get away.
Police say there were four children, ages 3-5 in the home at the time of the shooting, three of which were Wilson and Buchanan's.
Wilson's father reportedly showed up not long after the shooting and got the gun away from his son. Police say they used a taser on Wilson's father because at first, they thought he was the shooter.
Buchanan and Brown are both being treated at UK Hospital. There's no word on their conditions.
Wilson has been arrested and is charged with wanton endangerment, burglary and attempted murder.
