Heavy snow continues to increase across the region. Snowfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are likely this evening and tonight. More than a foot of snow may fall by Thursday morning.
Investigators now say a high school student who died in a violent crash was speeding.
That new information is coming out in the death of Franklin County High School senior Jennifer Penn.
She lost control on a curve on U.S. 460 in Scott County on Saturday night and slammed into a guardrail.
According to a police report, the roads were slick at the time and Penn was driving about 20 miles over the speed limit.
Memorial services for Penn will be Thursday night at the high school.
The State Journal reports Penn's funeral is Friday morning at Good Shepherd Church in Frankfort.
