West Jessamine Advances To State Tourney Semifinal

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - West Jessamine continued its Cinderella run in the state tournament, surviving a late Grayson County rally to win 72-67 in each team's first-ever quarterfinals appearance.

Junior point guard Jarrod Polson scored 22 points to lead the Colts in the first quarterfinal game of the Boys' Sweet Sixteen State Basketball Tournament at Rupp Arena on Friday.

West Jessamine (28-8) shot 56 percent and held off a comeback by the Cougars to advance to the final four.

Grayson County (26-7) struggled to match the West Jessamine tempo, shooting just 40 percent from the field. Junior Guard Travis Johnston scored 26 points.

The Colts will play the winner of Louisville Eastern and Louisville Central on Saturday morning at 10 EDT.
