Man Found Dead; Police Chase Suspects

LOUISVILLE, KY -- A man was found dead in a car around 2:30 a.m. Sunday after two Louisville Metro Police officers chased two suspects from the Auburndale Shopping Plaza, reports The Louisville Courier-Journal in its Sunday edition.

Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley said that around 2:30 a.m. two officers from the 3rd Division were called to the Auburndale Shopping Plaza.

After the two officers got out of their vehicle, they gave chase to two suspects, she said.

During the chase, one of the two men fell and dropped a weapon, Smiley said. As the weapon dropped, it discharged, she said; however, the bullet did not strike anyone.

The officers apprehended one suspect and called for backup, Smiley said.

While checking around the parking lot at a nearby Speedway gas station in teh 7400 block of Third Street Road, they found a Hispanic man in is early 20s who had been shot sitting in a car, Smiley said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, she added.

The second person is still being sought, Smiley said. Police are investigating the shooting, reports The Louisville Courier-Journal in its Sunday edition.
