Lt. Governor's Wallet Stolen

HAZARD, Ky. (AP) - An eastern Kentucky grocery employee has been
charged with felony theft after Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo's wallet was taken.

Kentucky State Police say the wallet was taken at about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hazard post commander Capt. Scott Miller says Mongiardo had apparently been at the grocery and left his wallet behind. Miller says a store employee put it aside for the Lieutenant Governor to pick up but that it was taken by another worker.

Police arrested 37-year-old Erika M. Moran of Hazard at around 6 p.m. and charged her with theft. She was being held in the Kentucky River Regional Jail at Hazard.

Police say all the contents of the wallet and a large portion of the currency was recovered.
