Lt. Gov. Does Not Want To Press Charges Over Stolen Wallet

A woman accused of stealing Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo's wallet is out on bond, and Mongiardo says he does not want to press charges.

State police say Erika Moran, 37, is still charged with theft by unlawful taking, and a judge will ultimately decide how to proceed.

Investigators say Moran took Mongiardo's wallet after he left it at Food City in Hazard.

"I really feel sorry for her, but it's still not right to take someone else's property, but I'm not going to press charges. I think she's been punished enough by the embarrassment," said Mongiardo.

Investigators say Moran worked at Food City and she is cooperating with the investigation.
