Downtown Restaurant Broken Into During Rush Hour

A restaurant owner and police are asking for help to solve a crime that happened in broad daylight, near the courthouse and police department in downtown Lexington.

This morning during rush hour the restaurant Bellini's was broken into and a 42 inch plasma was carried out as traffic passed by.

"They really did some damage", says Anna Marletta, the general manager of Bellini's.

Anna Marletta spent the day cleaning up glass that made up the front door of Bellini's. Marletta says that glass, however, was the least of her worries. Someone broke in a pried open an empty cash register, and stole a 42 inch plasma.

What Anna Marletta can't believe is it happened on Main Street as people were on their way to work.

"To me, that is so brazen to do it a block away from the police station, right by the courthouses, and to walk out the front with something so big and obvious as a t.v.", says Marletta.

She's just hoping someone saw something with so many people out and about.

"Sometimes it's the most obvious things that stump us. We see something and think, did I really see that", says Marletta.

Employees at Bellini's say they do plan on updating their security system now that this break-in has happened. They're also hoping anyone who saw something this morning, will contact police.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Just call 1-877-970-2020. It's a free call and you don't have to leave your name.
