We have breaking developments in the crash of Comair Flight 5191. The NTSB has released a preliminary report on the crash that provides new information.

The NTSB made the initial report available shortly after 11:00 a.m. Monday morning. The report says it has completed its on scene investigation.

Included in this report is toxicology results on the pilot and co-pilot. The NTSB says neither had any illegal substances or alcohol in their system.

The only substance detected was a trace of pseudo-ephedrine, an over the counter decongestant, in the first officer's blood. Yet the NTSB says the amount of pseudo-ephedrine was a very small amount.

We're also learning more about the crash, itself.

The report says the entire sequence of events, from takeoff to the crash, took only 36 seconds. There are only four seconds of recordings after the plane left the runway.

The NTSB is also telling us the plane did not show any signs of mechanical failure. The report claims the flaps were in takeoff position and the airplane's systems and structure showed no problems.

Now this report is not the end of the NTSB investigation. They're still working on gathering what they call factual reports and expect to release more information to the public within the next few months.
