House Hunting For Coach Calipari

Coach Calipari will soon be hunting for a place to call home in Lexington. But where will he and his family settle down?

There are plenty of homes in Central Kentucky to suit a man worth more than $30 million.

"I'm just so excited he's coming here," said Carolyn Wheeler, with Bluegrass Sotheby's International Realty.

Wheeler says where he lives, is the talk among people in her business.

"It would be an honor and privilege to help the Calipari family find their home," she said.

Wheeler has several homes on the market currently, including a $2 million home on the Fayette-Jessamine County line.

During his first news conference as the head UK men's basketball coach, Calipari said he would prefer to live near campus.

There is one home for sale he might be interested in. It's the former home of Rick Pittino, which has 11,000 square feet, 6 bedrooms and 8 baths. It comes with an asking price of $3.2 million.

Billy Gillispie's Jessamine county home will also be available soon. It boasts 12,000 square feet with 6 bedrooms and 8 baths. He bought the home for $1.45 million.

Tubby Smith's former home off Tates Creek and Alumni is the smallest of the recent UK coaches with 6,400 square feet, which he bought for $860,000 in 1997 and sold it for $1.5 million in 2007.

Those are just a few homes that may interest the new coach or at least give him an idea of where past coaches have called home while coaching the most storied program in college basketball.
