Richmond police have confirmed that one of the two pedestrians hit by a car has died.

The student is identified as Elizabeth Charles, 13 years old, from Richmond. Her death was pronounced about 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday morning, by the Fayette County Coroner's Office.

Elizabeth was a student at Clark-Moore Middle School.

The two young women were seriously hurt Monday night in Richmond after police say the women were hit by a car.

The accident happened on the Richmond by-pass near Porter Drive around 9:30.

The other victim remains in critical condition.

Richmond Police say it appears the driver who hit the two girls had a green light. Right now no charges have been filed.

Part of the by-pass was shutdown for several hours.
