Auditor: Ice Storm Purchases Not Criminal

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky Auditor Crit Luallen has found no
criminal wrongdoing related to McCracken County's questionable ice
storm expenses.

In a report released Friday, Luallen recommended local officials receive more training in how to make purchases and handle financial matters during an emergency.

The January ice storm devastated the county, cutting off electric power and phones to thousands of residents across western Kentucky, including McCracken County.

Auditors reviewed purchases of some generators, four-wheelers, a
2009 Coachman camper, wide-screen TVs, computers and fuel after
local officials raised questions about them.
