We have new information as to why federal agents searched the Fayette County Detention Center this week.

The federal investigation centers around allegations of jail employees using excessive force against inmates.

This was the scene on Tuesday when FBI agents searched the jail. They carried out boxes all part of sealed search warrant.

The FBI now says the agency is checking into allegations that inmates' civil rights were violated.

We're still unsure about how many inmates are involved or when the alleged excessive force took place.

That all remains unknown as the details about investigation remain sealed under a court order, but we know that agents have spent all day searching the jail earlier this week.

We'll bring you the latest in this case as it becomes available on 27 NEWSFIRST.
