Former Governor Blames Recent Floodings on Over Development

Updated: Thu 8:25 PM, Sep 28, 2006

Former Governor Julian Carroll is blaming over-development, too much paving over of farmland, for increased flooding in the state.

Democratic State Senator Carroll toured sections of his district that was hit hard by the recent heavy rainfall.

Thirty years ago, then Governor Julian Carroll called out the national guard to dredge flood prone streams in eastern Kentucky. He contends it's time to do that again around the state.

Many residents suffered significant damages to their homes due to flooding.

Yet, as the people of Millville tried to dry out, rain began falling on the tiny Woodford County Community.

Woodford County officials have contacted the Army Corps of engineers in Louisville for help in easing the flooding problem.
