The county garage that holds Lee County's road equipment caught fire just after one Wednesday afternoon.
The road garage is in Beattyville, on Kentucky 52, on the town's west side.
Fire crews tell us a man who lives on Ky 52 called the fire department after seeing smoke coming from the building. Several fire agencies responded to the call and it took them over an hour to knock the fire out.
Fortunately no one was in the building at the time of the fire and no firefighters were injured.
Officials say the building suffered extensive damage and the county has lost a lot of equipment that was inside the building.
There is no word yet on the total cost of damages at this time.
Fire officials have not yet determined just what started the fire, but we do know that the State Fire Marshall is on scene investigating the fire.
Kentucky 52 had to be blocked off for nearly two hours while crews worked the fire.
