There's a major security concern for more than 146, 000 government employees in Kentucky.

It's all because their social security numbers were displayed in a letter that was sent out.

Attorney General Greg Stumbo issued a warning about possible identity theft.

Stumbo says a social security number gives an identity thief access to a host of information about consumers.

The social security numbers were included as the first nine digits in 14-digit codes that were clearly visible in the address window of each of the envelopes.

Stumbo offered many tips in avoiding ID theft such as reviewing back and credit card statements, always take your credit card receipts, and never give bank or credit card information over the phone.

We'll keep you updated with the latest information in this case as it comes available.
