FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - People who waited until the final day to file their taxes could be out of luck.
Postal officials say most U.S. post offices in Kentucky and across the country won't be open until midnight to accommodate last-minute filers looking to beat the deadline.
Sue Brennan, a national postal spokeswoman, says most post offices aren't extending hours because many taxpayer file electronically. Brennan says budgetary concerns also play a factor in offices keeping their regular hours.
She says more than 500 post offices nationwide will be open until midnight. Brennan says customers can check online for local hours.
