It was a somber Sunday for one community as one of their own soldiers was laid to rest.
Army Staff Sgt. Gary Woods of Bullitt County died in Iraq after his vechicle was hit by a roadside bomb.
Sunday afternoon, his family and friends joined together to say a final goodbye to Woods at his former High School, Bullitt Central.
His body had been escorted from Fort Knox to Shepherdsville last week.
Friends and family spoke very highly of the young man, while addressing those in the gym. They called the 24 year old a hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice for there freedom.
He is survived by his wife, parents and four brothers.
