Police say they've captured a dangerous man who was last seen in Kentucky.

The FBI found Gary Johnson Friday afternoon at a pay phone in Indiana. They've been looking for him since Thursday, after he allegedly overpowered a sheriff's deputy in Nashville and took her gun.

Even though Johnson is now back behind bars, questions are still being asked about why he was free in the first place, a story that has ties to a former UK basketball star.

When Johnson allegedly overpowered that Nashville deputy and took off through Kentucky, he was on parole. He was granted release, thanks in part to former UK and NBA star Ron Mercer. They reportedly vouched for Johnson's credibility, even going so far as to write a letter saying he'd take responsibility for him.
