It might have been one of the craziest days in Lexington in quite some time: The day John Calipari was named the new head coach of the university of Kentucky. Call it dumb luck, but that was the day our Mark Kennedy carried a camera around with him, documenting what the day in the life of a reporter is like.
This day was a perfect example that you have to be ready for anything in the news business. Normally, I work from about 9:30 in the morning and get off around 6:30pm. But, on this day, most of us worked double shifts until nearly midnight because of the breaking news of John Calipari coming to Kentucky. It certainly didn't feel like a 15-hour day because we were constantly trying to track what the latest was on the coaching situation.
