Our focus now turns to the potential of record lows tonight. Many areas may wake up to thermometer readings below zero.
A gruesome discovery in the Red River Gorge turns out to be the body of a missing woman.
Just this weekend, the family of 27-year old Nicole Vanzant gathered at a vigil to pray for answers about her whereabouts and Tuesday they got them.
Vanzant's body was discovered in Powell County in the Red River Gorge in the Indian Creek Road area by a hiker, police say near the Menifee County line.
Investigators are now trying to figure out how Vanzant died.
Police say they have interviewed several people in connection to Vanzant's disappearance, but so far there are no suspects or persons of interest in the case.
The state medical examiner says she will begin a laboratory analysis by the end of the week, but it could take weeks before there are any results. Several bones were recovered, and now each one will have to be analyzed.
Vanzant's father, Rick Penix, also tells 27 Newsfirst he wanted to thank the community for their support during this time.
