Community Gathers for Sandcastle Dedication

A sandcastle was dedicated today in memory of a victim of the Flight 5191 plane crash.

Before the crash, a sandcastle was built in front of the Housewarmings Store on Palumbo Drive. Vandals tore that one down and the store brought in a new artist to create another one. This artist was a friend of Pat Smith and wanted to build a new one in his honor. The sandcastle was unveiled Sunday at a special ceremony. Pat Smith's family was there. Smith was known for his contributions to Habitat for Humanity. Pat's son, Brian, said he loved building sandcastles. The family says they are honored that the sandcastle was built for Pat.
