Jail Escapee Is Caught

A Harlan County jail escapee did not get to enjoy his freedom for long.

State police say a work release inmate, James B. Smith of Tazewell, Tennessee got away Wednesday afternoon.

A short time later, police found him on a gravel road at the foot of Crummies Mountain.

Smith was charged with escape and taken back to the Harlan County Detention Center.
