Teen Drowns In Gorge

He was in Kentucky to help clear debris from the Red River Gorge left after the ice storm.

But, he took a break with a friend to go swimming and now, 18-year-old Xavier Holley, of Edenton, N.C. is dead after drowning.

It happened in an area known as Turtle Rock at the Menifee - Powell County line. The friend tried to save him, but sadly couldn't.

The Menifee County Search and Rescue Squad found the teen about 45 minutes after he went under, near a walking bridge about 10 feet from the bank.

Holley's body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy.

At this time, his death is being called accidental.
