Engine Malfunction Forces Down Airliner

SEATAC, Wash. (AP) - A Boeing 777 has landed safely at
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport after its crew reported a
malfunction in one of its two engines.
Airport spokesman Perry Cooper says Asiana Airlines Flight 271
turned around soon after takeoff Wednesday afternoon. He says the
plane's crew reported an "engine out." The plane dumped fuel over
Puget Sound before landing.
Cooper says his initial report of an engine fire was incorrect.
He says fire crews have looked at the engine and found no signs of
fire.
The flight was headed to Seoul.
Hyomin Lee, a spokeswoman for Asiana Airlines in Seoul, says 176
passengers and 16 crew were on board. Some passengers would be
rebooked on another flight Thursday.
