The body of a man found inside a partially burned car near the water's edge at Lake Cumberland was that of 40-year-old Michael Wesseler of Clarksville, Ohio.

Pulaski County Deputy Coroner Jim McWhorter says Wesseler died the result of a gunshot wound. His body was found Saturday inside his car, which authorities say had been set on fire, but the blaze was not significant.

The Pulaski County Sheriff's Department reports 28-year-old Rocky Lee Smith of Somerset was arrested early yesterday and charged with murder and evidence tampering in Wesseler's death.

Investigators say the motive for the homicide had "a drug connection."

Lieutenant Brett Whitaker says Smith is being held without bond in the Pulaski County Detention Center.
