Convicted Killer Returns to Court
It's back to court Monday afternoon for Taquan Neblett, the man convicted of killing a Lexington music store clerk.
An attorney for Neblett wants his client's death penalty overturned. The attorney says a juror may have lied about knowledge in the case.
The jury convicted Neblett for the murder of Derek Elam during a robbery at Sami's Music Store back in 2004.
During Monday's hearing the juror in question was called to the stand. She says she skimmed through an article in the morning not knowing she was going to be called for the Neblett trial that day. She says it wasn't until the sentencing phase that she realized she may have read about Neblett's prior murder conviction in that article.
The juror was questioned for close to an hour. Another hearing is set for Friday.
