Jury Deliberates Cold Case Slaying

HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A jury has begun deliberating in the trial of three men charged with kidnapping, raping and murdering a woman in western Kentucky nearly 22 years ago.

Police found the beaten and mutilated body of 20-year-old Corinna Mullen stuffed inside the trunk of her car outside her Central City apartment in 1987.

Kentucky State Police discovered new evidence that led to indictments in 2006.

Former Central City police officer Billy F. Fields and two others - Jeffrey L. Boyd and Jimmie Dale Cramer - are charged with murder, rape, sodomy and kidnapping.

The Messenger-Inquirer of Owensboro reports the Christian County jury began deliberating Monday, but did not reach a verdict. Jurors were to continue deliberations Tuesday.

The trial was moved in an effort to find an impartial jury.
