Some changes could soon be on the way for student athletes in Kentucky, especially if they switch school systems.

The Kentucky High School Athletics Association delegate assembly voted on a proposal to keep any student on the bench and off any sports their freshman year.

The proposal would affect students switching from public to private or private to public schools after 8th grade graduation.

The proposal is designed to keep any schools from actively recruiting students.

It now must be approved by the KHSAA board of control and the state board of education before going into effect.
