Point Guard Eric Bledsoe Signs With Wildcats

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - New Kentucky coach John Calipari continues to make a splash on the recruiting trail.

The Wildcats signed Alabama point guard Eric Bledsoe on Wednesday, the second high-profile recruit to join the Wildcats since Calipari took over as Kentucky coach six weeks ago.

Bledsoe had narrowed his choices to Kentucky and Memphis, where Calipari coached before joining the Wildcats.

Rivals.com rates Bledsoe as the nation's No. 23 prospect overall and third-best point guard.

The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 20.3 points, 11.5 assists and 9.4 rebounds as a senior at Parker High School in Birmingham, Ala. DeMarcus Cousins, one of the nation's top prospects, has also signed to play for the Wildcats since Calipari's hiring.

The late signing period runs through May 20.
