Joseph Angelucci's family and friends pleaded before the Kentucky parole board, asking that William Bennet not be released from prison.

Angelucci's father, mother and brother all asked the board to keep Bennet behind bars for the rest of his life.

The 23-year-old officer was serving a warrant on a mentally ill suspect, back in November of 1988. That's when the suspect shot and killed Angelucci.

Bennett is now serving a 60-year sentence.

The hearing took place at 11:30 a.m. on Monday. Members from the police department where Angelucci worked and Ray Larson all pleaded with the board not to release Benette.

A decision is expected to be made some time this week.
