Circuit Court Clerk's Son Faces Serious Charges

It wasn't just the fact that he had more than 20 licenses, but his family connection was also surprising.

Brett Barton, son of Whitley County Circuit Court Clerk Gary Barton.. now faces some serious charges.

Police in Corbin say they found 20 drivers licenses in a truck during a traffic stop...and who they arrested has a strong family connection to the one place in Whitley County where you can get a drivers license.

It was early Sunday Morning. Police say they pulled over a truck on the Cumberland Falls Parkway…the man driving, Ryan Allen Brodecker, was charged with DUI.

His passenger, Brett Barton, son of Whitley County Clerk Gary Barton was charged with alcohol intoxication.

When police searched the truck…owned by Barton….police say they found eight driver's licenses in the floorboard and 11 more ID's in a DVD case. Two more licenses were found in the center console of the truck.

Police questioned Barton but he didn't have much to say at first. Later at the Police station, the officer says Barton told him that he knew some but not all of the people in the ID's.

Whitley County Clerk Gary Barton said he couldn't talk about the case which is an open investigation. Also under investigation is if there is a connection between the licenses and the Clerk's office in Williamsburg.

Barton was taken to the Whitley County Detention Center but has since been released on bond.
