Scattered showers and storms continue to push across the region. Local high water issues remain possible through the evening.
A former Lexington police officer got quite the scare when cleaning out his garage. Jerry Belcher found an old mortar shell in a trunk.
It happened Wednesday afternoon.
"I've had it for many years, but never knew what was inside of it. A friend of mine that used to work for the federal government gave it to me," he said.
Belcher called police, who blocked off Sierra drive, just off of Bryan Station. A bomb expert was called in who determined it wasn't active and hauled it away.
Firefighters say if you confront something that you aren't sure if it is explosive or not, get away and call them.
