The driver, Nicolas Petit-Frere remains hospitalized in fair condition.
Police say he was driving on Russell Cave Road at Faulkner Avenue when the car crossed lanes, and hit a tree head-on.
Police say Petit-Frere didn't have a valid drivers license, only a learners permit, which he'd had for four months.
