Attorneys for a man charged with murdering a child are once again asking a judge to delay his trial
Lewis "Buck" Ballard is accused of killing six-year-old Wesley Mullins back in 2006 in Bourbon County.
On Thursday morning, his newly appointed public defender was in court, arguing that three months is not enough to prepare for Ballard's August trial.
The judge over the case says he still expects to proceed with the trial as planned because the next available time to accommodate a trial of that size is February of next year. The trial is expected to last a month.
Police say Ballard killed Mullins inside the boy's grandfather's garage. Ballard was staying at the grandfather's house at the time of the crime.
