LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - The Justice Department says three former
Lexington-Fayette County Detention Center jailers have pleaded
guilty to charges related to the abuse of pretrial detainees.
In a news release, the Justice Department says Scott Tyree,
Kristine Lafoe and Anthony Estep pleaded guilty Thursday in federal
court in Lexington.
Forty-six-year-old Tyree pleaded guilty to conspiring to deprive
detainees of their constitutional rights by physically abusing them
and writing false and misleading reports to conceal the abuse. He
faces up to five years in prison.
Forty-three-year-old Lafoe pleaded guilty to trying to conceal
the abuse and also faces up to five years in prison, while
34-year-old Estep pleaded guilty to a civil rights charge and
obstruction of justice and faces up to two years in prison.
