Honoring Fallen Trooper

There was a special tribute held Friday for a state trooper, killed in the line of duty.

Trooper Johnny Edrington was gunned down during a Laurel County traffic stop in December of 1988. More than 20 years after the crime, there have still been no arrests.

This is Police Officer Memorial week and services are being held across the state to honor fallen officers. Police hope that drawing attention to these unsolved cases could help bring about new leads.

Edrington was a Campbellsville native and is buried there. At Friday's service his daughter, was wasn't yet born at the time of his death, laid a wreath on his grave.

Police say even though it has been 20 years since Edrington was gunned down, his case is still open and active.
