Halloween Safety Tips

Updated: Tue 7:07 PM, Oct 31, 2006

The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control says kids are four times more likely to get hit by a car on Halloween than on any other day.

Safety experts say Halloween costumes can block vision and hearing and with shorter daylight hours, drivers can't see as well.

Here are some tips:
-Wear makeup instead of masks
-Carry flashlights or glow sticks
-Look both ways before crossing the street and cross only at intersections

Experts say instead of zig-zagging across the road, go up one side, cross at a safe spot, and come back the other way.

Trick or Treat hours in Lexington and all surrounding communities will be from 6:00 to 8:00 Halloween night.
