A student at Mayzeek Middle School in Jefferson county has been diagnosed with the H1N1 virus.
The student becomes the 13th confirmed case in the state. It is the first case to involve a public school in Kentucky.
Health officials say so far, this is an isolated case within the Jefferson County School system. Therefore, officials will not close schools in the county and are instead encouraging families of students to be vigilant in hand washing.
Also, health officials advise parents to keep their children at home for a week if they are experiencing a fever, sore throat and cough.
