Wife sentenced to 11 years in poisoning case

OLIVE HILL, Ky. (AP) - A former McDonald's employee who was having an affair with a co-worker has been sentenced to 11 years in
prison for trying to poison her husband's chicken sandwich.

The Independent of Ashland reports that Patricia Valandingham received the sentence Monday in Carter County Circuit Court. She
could have faced 20 years.

A jury found Valandingham guilty in April of conspiracy to commit murder.

Former McDonald's employee Christopher Stephens of Olive Hill had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit assault in the case. He testified against Valandingham.

Prosecutors had said Stephens allegedly attempted to put rat poison on food ordered by Valandingham's husband at the McDonald's in Olive Hill in January 2008, but was interrupted by another employee.
