Police Hope Large Reward Will Solve Cold Murder Case

Fleming County officials hope a big reward will help heat up a cold case a double murder in Fleming County that happened in May of 2005 remains unsolved.

Police say 43-year-old Donald Walker and his girlfriend, 23-year-old Marlena Mauk, were found dead May 6th in their trailer on Routt Road, in Fleming County. Police say they were shot multiple times at close range.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest in the case.

Flemming County Sheriff Jerry Wagner says this is the most prominent unsolved case in the county and he wants it solved before he leaves office at the end of the year.

Wagner says, "at times we've had seven agencies working on this case."

Sheriff Wagner says he's positive someone out there has information that will help the case.

Wagner says, "there is someone out there who knows something to make the difference in this."

Police have interviewed several people in the case. A motive for the shootings has not been determined, but police say they haven't ruled out the possibility the murders were related to the victim roles as drug informants.
