Bus driver accused of hitting boy is suspended

CORBIN, Ky. (AP) - A school bus driver in south-central Kentucky has been suspended for 10 days without pay after school officials say he slapped a student.

WYMT-TV in Hazard reports it obtained a letter that the Corbin Independent School District sent to Kirk Bodenweiser detailing the
suspension. The station says Bodenweiser had no comment about the
suspension.

Bodenwiser is accused of slapping an 8-year-old child on April 22 after the boy hit him. He previously told the station that it was a reflex reaction.

The child's mother, Sarah Mosley, told the station that the punishment should be more severe. She said her son can be rambunctious, but that he was just playing when he hit the bus driver.

The school system ordered Bodenweiser to complete an anger management course before returning to work.
