Wildcats Forward Missing First Exhibition Game

By  |

It's that time of year again, basketball season in Lexington. The University of Kentucky Wildcats will play their first exhibition game tonight in Rupp Arena.

The Cats will host NAIA school Lindsey Wilson tonight. The Cats will be without forward Sheray Thomas. He was suspended for the Wildcats' first two exhibition games and the season opener because of an undisclosed rules violation. The 6-foot-8 senior started 12 games last year and is expected to be a major contributor at power forward. Coach Tubby Smith said Thomas most likely would have been a starter tonight. Smith said at a news conference yesterday, "He's being punished, and hopefully he'll respond the right way."

Also don't forget a city ordinance prohibits selling anything, including food, tickets or t-shirts, along streets or sidewalks within two blocks of Rupp Arena from two hours before an event to one hour after.

Tickets are always in high demand for UK games. Kentucky has led the nation in attendance in each of the past nine seasons and 18 times since the arena opened for the 1976-77 season. But don't try to scalp any tickets, no matter the price, around Rupp near game time.

27 News will have the game for you live tonight at 7 o'clock. And you can tune in at 6:30 for Wildcat Warm Up on the CWKYT.
