Elementary student among new H1N1 cases

State health officials are reporting five more confirmed cases of swine flu in Kentucky.

Officials said Wednesday that one confirmed case involves a person at a Madison County group home for the mentally and developmentally disabled and that has led to at least 20 suspected cases at other group homes run by the same provider.

Three new cases of swine flu were confirmed in Jefferson County, including a case involving a middle school student. Louisville health officials say it is the second confirmed case at the school.

The first case involved an adult.

Scott County in central Kentucky also had a confirmed case with a student at Anne Mason Elementary School. Crews were busy overnight cleaning the school. Health officials advised school officials they could keep the school open.

There are now 20 confirmed swine flu cases in the state.
