Fleming County Mother Acussed In Son's Death Appears In Court

A bitter exchange between family members sharply divided about a woman charged in the death of her child.

Toni Barber appeared in court Thursday morning in Fleming County. Her young son died after being found unresponsive inside a sweltering van.

Toni Barber was arraigned Thursday morning in Fleming District Court on charges of second degree manslaughter and criminal abuse in connection with the death of 18 month old Caleb Davis. After the arraignment, family gathered outside the courthouse with the the child's paternal grandparents not holding back in their feelings about Barber.

During the interview with the Davis family, Toni barber's aunt stepped in to defend her niece saying that Barber loved her children and that what happened was not neglect, but an terrible accident.

A request made by Toni Barber's lawyer to have her bond reduced from $100,000 to $10,000 was granted. Barber is now free until her prelimary hearing next Thursday.
