Two Dead After Crash In Whitley County

Early Saturday afternoon, Kentucky State Police responded to a two vehicle crash with injuries on Kentucky 25W, Cumberland Falls Highway, 4 miles south of Corbin, in Whitley County.

Investigators believe a 2004 Toyota Avalon driven by 66-year-old James Hipp of Trussville, Alabama was southbound on KY 25W when he crossed the centerline into the path of a 1991 Honda Accord. Hopp's car hit the Honda head-on, killing the two occupants.

The names of the victims in the Honda are not being released at this time.

Frances Hipp, also of Alabama and Jean Elizabeth Libhart of Missouri died as a result of their injuries. James Hipp and Neal Libhart were flown to the UT Medical Center in Knoxville, where they are in critical condition.
